(CSI) Centre secures WMCA funding to host a Cyber Upskilling Bootcamp



  • The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has awarded the Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Centre £400,00 to host a digital upskilling programme.

  • The Programme will be spearheaded by Dr Anitha Chinnaswamy alongside Professor Vladlena Benson and Dr Vitor Jesus

  • The Upskilling boot camp is set to beginning the onboarding process mid-July 2022

  • The programme is 8 weeks long,and will be delivered by academics within the CSI Centre alongside employers, recruiters, UK Cyber Security Council and the Ethnic Minority in Cyber Security.

The Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Centre led by Dr Anitha Chinaswamy, Professor Vladlena Benson and Dr Vitor Jesus has received a £400, 000 award from the West Midlands Combined Authority to implement an 8 week cyber upskilling boot camp. The Boot camp is set to be a collaborative endeavour with employers, recruiters, UK Cyber Security Council to help minimise an existing skills gap in the field of cyber security across the West Midlands.That being said, the project will instill cyber security fundamentals in its participants to create a basic attraction to roles in business where basic understanding of cyber principles is key. The 8-week course will be delivered in a blended manner, to include online and in-person routes.
